U.S. Coast Guard 225th Birthday Cake - August 4th

Happy Birthday U.S. Coast Guard!

Today, we celebrate 225 years of the U.S. Coast Guard. The Coast Guard traces its history to the Revenue Cutter Service which was established by an Act of Congress on August 4th 1790.

For seven years, we've also shared a birthday with our Commander in Chief. Happy Birthday President Obama!

This is a banana cake with vanilla frosting and some vanilla cupcakes.

From every angle...
This was my first attempt at a U.S. Coast Guard Birthday cake 4 years ago. That's boxed cake mix, a can of frosting, and M&Ms for decoration.

To quote one of my favorite singers in regards to my cake baking/decorating skills: "I'm not as good as I'm gonna get, but I'm better than I used to be."
